Support The Salvation Army's Wellington Project

Recent media has made the current housing shortage very visible, along with the impact it has for those caught up in this crisis. At Hutt City Salvation Army we meet many families and individuals struggling to find sustainable housing, with families often sharing houses with other families and individuals couch surfing, a different mate’s place each night.

Our response has been to set up 4 houses this year where families and individuals can have a place to call home while they focus on a longer term housing option.  Our team provide a range of services to assist families and individuals in becoming established in their own homes.

Register here to participate in The Salvation Army's 14 Hours Homeless event in Wellington. You can join us at the hosted event or host your own event offsite and raise money for our project. If you are unable to participate but would like to support our project, you might like to make a donation to our cause.

We have secured funding for improvements for two of the houses to make them warm, dry and healthy homes. With your support through 14 Hours Homeless we will be able to provide the same improvements for our other two homes. We want these homes to be a 'home away from home', on the way to their own permanent house to call home.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 towards making these houses homes for the homeless.
