Support The Salvation Army's Wellington Project

The media has made the plight of those caught up in the housing shortage very visible.  Out here in the Hutt Valley, homelessness is not so obvious.  But here at Hutt City Salvation Army we meet many families and individuals struggling to find sustainable housing.  Families end up sharing with other families and individuals find themselves going from mate's to mate's sleeping on the couch.

Our response has been to set up 4 houses this year where families can have a place to call home while they focus on a longer term housing option.  We provide support in this search along with budgeting and other services.

Register here to participate in The Salvation Army's 14 Hours Homeless event in Wellington. You can join us at the hosted event or host your own event offsite and raise money for our project. If you are unable to participate but would like to support our project, you might like to make a donation to our cause.

We have secured funding for heat pumps for two of the houses.  With your support we hope to do the same for the other two houses.  Your support might also stretch to provide some backyard play equipment.  We hope people find our places a 'home away from home' on the way to their own place to call home.

To achieve these goals, our target is $10,000.

By supporting our 14 Hours Homeless event as a participant or a sponsor you are helping make a positive difference to our homeless problem.

Thanks for your support.
